Paul did three things to bring out the best in people from Philippians 1:3-7:

  1. He believed in people. “I am confident …”

Do you give the people in your life confidence or tear them down?

If you see one of your children fall, isn't your first response to say, “I know you can do this! Keep going!” God wants us to do this with people in our lives. You can’t change unless someone believes in you.

Maybe you are one of these people who says, "I just tell it like it is!"  Don’t “Tell it like it is" - tell it like it could be. That’s faith!

  1. He gave people vision. “…He who began a good work will continue it…”

We usually become what we believe the most important people in our lives believe and say about us. Why not speak words of faith to them instead of discouragements?

  1. He was patient with people’s progress. “…he will keep doing it until the day of Christ…”

If you insist on perfection in people you are going to be miserable the rest of your life!

If you expect people to measure up before you enjoy them, you are in for a major disappointment!

Here is a huge Happiness Hint for your relationships:
Celebrate how far people have come rather than judging how far they still have to go!

What is the key to patience?

It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.” (Philippians 1:7, NIV)

As we mentioned in a previous email, If people are not in your heart, they are on your nerves!

To get people off your nerves, put them in your heart!

Loving from the heart begins with understanding. You don’t judge them for living that way; you understand them. There is a difference between understanding and agreeing. Remember, everyone does what makes sense to THEM, not to you. So be patient.

After all, if they are a believer in Jesus, they also have the Holy Spirit!!!!
