Solomon was legendary in what he KNEW about how to live skillfully. Just read Proverbs for a taste of his wisdom on practically every topic.

But Solomon is also a classic example of someone who KNOWS the right thing to do, but does not DO IT! He died at a younger age than he should have because his LIFE DID NOT MATCH HIS LIPS.

I grew up in North Carolina with a family of smokers, chewers, alcoholics, drug addicts, etc. When I was younger, I heard constantly, "Don't smoke, or drink, or do drugs, etc. It's bad for you."

But I heard this from every person who had tobacco hanging out of their mouth or in their mouth in some form or another, or a bottle of whiskey in their hand, or a pill they had just popped.

SERIOUSLY? WHO IN THE HISTORY OF HUMANITY LOOKS AT SUCH BLATANT HYPOCRISY AND THINKS THIS PERSON HAS PROVEN BY THEIR LIVES THAT THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO TELL US NOT TO SMOKE (or chew, or drink or fill in your own blank) WHEN THEY ARE DOING THE THING THEY ADMONISH US TO NOT DO?

This demonstrates vividly Solomon's Paradox:
Knowing the truth does not mean that you are doing it.

People are following you, whether you like it or not, whether you realize it or not, whether you think they should or not.

“Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 11:1, NIV)

• What do people see of Jesus in you?
  Who is following you?
  Are you worthy of being followed?
  Are you living the Solomon Paradox - you know what to do but aren't doing it?
  WHAT WILL YOU DO (NOT JUST KNOW) DIFFERENTLY???
