I am really angry and ticked off.

Mostly at the devil.

I hate him. No, I DESPISE him.

He deceived another one of my former students into committing suicide.

Why am I partially blaming the devil for this?

He is partly responsible for every evil that occurs in our world (as we all are as well). Only the first two chapters and the last two chapters in the Bible do not record his activity through seducing us to sin in one way or another.

God's Word reminds us,

“For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44, NLT)

I had a conversation with my oldest brother about this very verse years ago. I told Ricky that, according to this verse, the process Satan uses is trying to convince us to buy his lie. Once someone accepts Satan's lies as truth long enough, he tries to persuade that person that murder - especially of yourself - is the only way out.

Ricky bought the lies and took his own life on August 7, 1998.

It happened to three other former students.

Suicide is an epidemic in our region and in our country - especially among the youth. This is an epedimic that needs to stop immediately.

Remember, Jesus said,

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” (John 10:10, NLT)

I have been shocked, saddened and weeping every night, calling out to God for a solution since the latest tragedy.
