Would you ever read a book written by an adulterer, who used and manipulated women long before the “MeToo” Movement began?

He even killed his lover's husband!

His son, conceived out of wedlock, even wrote a few books that became bestsellers. One of his books describes his sexual encounters in blushing detail.

Would you buy a book written by a serial murderer, who openly confessed he did it? His murders would surpass the notorious Ted Bundy.

Would you waste one penny on reading something from the life of a drunk and his homosexual tendencies?

Would you read the memoir of a prostitute who describes - well, you know.

If you answered “No!” to any of these, THEN STOP READING YOUR BIBLE!

What?
You’re encouraging me to stop reading my Bible?

If you are judgmental, gossipy, hypocritical, and thinking more about the sins of others than facing and dealing with your own sin - YES!

You do realize that the majority of the Bible was written by the people I’ve described above.

“If we are not going to apply the Word of God to our own lives, we will be held in harsher judgment by the Lord” (James 1:21-25).

It is very easy to condemn others and “write them off” because of a snapshot of sin.

I have personally been surprised as a Christian and a Pastor for almost 40 years at how few followers of Jesus really, truly care when someone falls into sin. God commands us,

“Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.” (Galatians 6:1, NLT)

Could it be that this is one primary reason people avoid the church?
They have enough challenges on their job, financially and in relationships they do not want to walk into a freezer and be further beat down by others.

“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” (John 13:34-35, NLT)

If we really followed this one simple command, we would have to lock the doors to the church because so many people would be drawn to God's love through us that we would run out of room!
