As I took a sip of hot coffee and allowed the Lord to speak to me through His Word, I sensed Him saying to me:

"Be still today and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10). I am always speaking in My world through creation, through your conscience, and through My Son, Jesus Christ (Romans 1:18-21). My Word is sharper than any two-edged sword and is able to cut through your heart, to the dividing of soul and spirit, and will actively reveal the attitudes and motives going on inside you (Hebrews 4:12).

"Living close to Me is going to require you to make small decisions throughout your day – decisions to involve Me in your life, in your relationships, in your family. Only as you focus on Me will you find your true self revealed."

I learned that if I am going to live close to God that I should not listen for a voice but look for a verse!

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46:10, ESV)

“They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.” (Romans 1:19–20, NLT)

“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12, NASB95)
