“Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.” (Ephesians 3:17, NLT)

After the Lord Jesus entered the home of my heart, He gave me new desires in the kitchen of my heart and began to speak to me through His Word as we fellowshipped together at the Living Room and Study. He reminded me that:

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NLT)

Because He was beginning to feel comfortable in the home of my heart, He went to the workroom. He asked me what I was doing with the gifts, abilities and talents He had given me.

I looked out the window as I explained that I had been busy building little trinkets and things - mostly just to pass the time. He assured me that if I allowed Him to show me how to maximize what He had given me that it would not only benefit others and breathe life back into me, but He would also give me eternal rewards for using them for His glory.

When I asked Him to explain further, He helped me by telling me that He had given me SHAPES for service to others.

S piritual Gifts (listed in Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12 and 1 Peter 4).

H eart (What breaks my heart? What moves me?)

A bilities (What God-given abilities has He given me?)

P ersonality (What kind of personality has God given me? Leader? Follower?)

E xperiences (What experiences has God given me that could benefit others? 2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

S chedule (How much time do I have to serve well and effectively?)

Our worship through work for the Lord will be most fruitful if we are using our Spiritual Gifts with the Heart and Abilities He has loaned us, along with the Personality and Experiences He has given us, within the confines of our Schedule.

By looking through the lens of how God SHAPES us for ministry will make our service to Him more and more effective!
