Do you believe the Bible to be the Word of God?  “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16–17, NIV)

Do you believe that God's Word speaks the truth about everything it addresses? “Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.” (John 17:17)

Do you believe the Bible cuts across the grain of society and exposes error, and that God wants us to love what He loves and hate what He hates? “Your commandments give me understanding; no wonder I hate every false way of life.” (Psalm 119:104, NLT)

If you answered, "YES!" to those questions, it means that because of your relationship with the Living God you love what He loves and you hate what He hates. I hope you appreciate and forward this email about POLITICAL CORRECTNESS.

We live in a culture in which we are told that we must be politically correct and unoffensive toward anyone - regardless of how ridiculous it seems to us. It is always fashionable to speak about other people having the freedom to "be who they are" and we need to "love everyone unconditionally, as God does."

But what if the stereotypes are true?

Titus was sent by God to minister on the Island of Crete. They were difficult people. In fact, they were so challenging that God wrote through Paul:

Even one of their own men, a prophet from Crete, has said about them, “The people of Crete are all liars, cruel animals, and lazy gluttons.” (Titus 1:12, NLT)

Whoa! Whoa! Wait just a minute!  You mean that verse is in the Bible?!? Certainly Paul is going to correct this stereotype about the people to whom Titus is ministering! That sounds so harsh to say they are all liars, cruel animals, and lazy gluttons.

On the contrary, the next verse reads:

This is true. So reprimand them sternly to make them strong in the faith.” (Titus 1:13, NLT)

In other words, because it is true that the people of Crete are living according to their stereotype - all liars, cruel animals, and lazy gluttons - reprimand them so that they change their behavior to live in harmony with God's truth!  The exceedingly great value of a relationship with the living Lord was to be on display in the lives of the lying, cruel, lazy Cretans - which meant they had to change their behavior to be in line with God instead of expecting God to say, "It's okay, I understand. The dominant culture made you like this and views you like this, so you're excused from living according to My truth - yada, yada, yada."

Does your Bible read that way? If so, you're reading the Politically Correct International Perversion and, not the correct version! ;-0

God is God and He doesn't need to be Politically Correct! There is a right, there is a wrong. There is a good, there is a bad - BECAUSE GOD HAS SPOKEN!

What would you say about "your people" whoever they are? If God were writing a verse about "your people" - what would he say?  What needs correcting? What stereotypes are you excusing?

Where do you need to allow God to convict you of living according to the stereotype of "your people"?

Even one of their own men, a prophet from [the White People], has said about them, “The Whites are all _____________, __________________, and ________________.”

“Even one of their own men, a prophet from [the Black People], has said about them, “The Blacks are all _____________, __________________, and ________________.”

“Even one of their own men, a prophet from [the Native People], has said about them, “The Natives are all _____________, __________________, and ________________.”

“Even one of their own men, a prophet from [the Hispanic People], has said about them, “The Hispanics are all _____________, __________________, and ________________.”

And if “This is true..." (this stereotype) about you or someone you know, then you should "...reprimand them sternly to make them strong in the faith.” (Titus 1:13, NLT)

One final thought about Political Correctness, please. If you are blaming anyone or anything for where you are in your life besides yourself, you are giving control to that person or thing instead of to the living Lord.

None of us is a victim of our circumstances or other people. We are only victims of our RESPONSE to our circumstances or other people!

And that's not a Politically Correct thing to say or believe in this day and age!

What are you feeling or thinking right now after reading this? If it is anger or disgust, can you please revisit the questions I began with?

Do you believe the Bible to be the Word of God?

Do you believe that God's Word speaks the truth about everything it addresses?

Do you believe the Bible cuts across the grain of society and exposes error, and that God wants us to love what He loves and hate what He hates?

Well, do you love what He loves and hate what He hates? If not, why not?

Rejoicing, On the Victory Side!
