I sat down to have coffee with Jesus as the New Year begins. This past year has been hard, to say the least, and I am a little worried about what may come this year.

Jesus listened to my concerns and then replied:

“I am taking care of you, so you can cast ALL of your anxieties on Me, because I care for You (1 Peter 5:7). Sense daily the warmth and security of being bundled up in My warm presence. I am going before You, behind You, over You and under You to protect and provide for you.

Everything that comes into Your life has been approved by my loving hand (Lamentations 3:37-38), and I am working all those things together for Your good according to my design and specific purpose for Your life (Romans 8:28).

You are not seeing this world as I originally intended. You are living in a fallen world, with fallen people, during a fallen age. Events that look like “accidents” or “happenstance” are under My ultimate control. Nothing will happen to You or Your family today, this week, this month or this year that is not ultimately under My control and guidance.

I know that You want to understand all of the moving pieces in Your life, but just remain faithful to Me and My Word and you will understand in due time. Even if you do not come to grips with all that you want to understand on this side of Eternity, your first two words in heaven will be, “Of course!” because only in the light of My presence will You see all the details brought to light.

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7, NIV)

“Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it? Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both calamities and good things come?” (Lamentations 3:37–38, NIV)

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28, NLT)
